What is Hyperliquid? Why anyone can see what whales are trading

Updated 10/10/2026

Hyperliquid is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange running on its own blockchain, built by the Hyperliquid team. You trade longs and shorts with leverage just like on Binance or Bybit, but you do not sign up with an email: you connect a crypto wallet and deposit USDC.

How it differs from a centralized exchange

Why anyone can see whale positions

On a centralized exchange you have no idea who holds what. On Hyperliquid everything is on-chain, so anyone can look up whether a wallet is long or short a coin, how big the position is, the leverage, and the liquidation price.

That is why Hyperliquid whale trackers exist. When a large wallet opens a position worth tens of millions of dollars, the whole market can know within seconds. Watch it live on the Hyperliquid whales page.
