How the calculation works
The Hyperliquid docs give the hourly payment as position_size × oracle_price × funding_rate, which is the position value times the hourly rate. This calculator uses your position value in dollars.
A positive rate means longs pay and shorts receive. A negative rate means shorts pay and longs receive.
The annualised figure is the hourly rate × 24 × 365. It is only a way to compare rates: funding changes every hour and Hyperliquid caps it at 4% per hour.
The live rate is the current hourly estimate shown on our coin pages. The rate you actually pay is set at the end of each hour.
FAQ
How often is funding paid on Hyperliquid?
Every hour, unlike many centralized exchanges that settle every 8 hours.
Who pays funding on Hyperliquid?
With a positive rate, longs pay shorts. With a negative rate, shorts pay longs. Payments go directly between traders.
Is funding included in my liquidation price?
Indirectly: funding payments change your margin, so paying funding for a long time moves your liquidation price closer.
