Hyperliquid liquidation price calculator

Enter the coin, side, entry price, position size and leverage to see where Hyperliquid would liquidate the position. The maintenance margin is half the initial margin at the coin's max leverage, which is how Hyperliquid defines it, and the coin's live max leverage is filled in for you.

How the calculation works

Hyperliquid liquidates a position when its equity falls to the maintenance margin. The official formula is liq_price = price − side × margin_available / position_size / (1 − l × side), where side is 1 for a long and −1 for a short, and l = 1 / maintenance leverage.

Maintenance leverage is twice the coin's max leverage. A coin with 40x max leverage has a maintenance margin of 1.25% of the position value; a 3x coin has 16.7%.

In isolated mode the margin is the position size divided by your leverage, so higher leverage moves the liquidation price closer. In cross mode the margin is your account value, so leverage does not change it; this calculator assumes this is your only open position.

Not included: trading fees, funding paid or received, and the higher maintenance margin of large positions on coins with margin tiers. Treat the result as an estimate and keep a buffer.

FAQ

How is the liquidation price calculated on Hyperliquid?

Hyperliquid liquidates when account equity falls to the maintenance margin, which is half the initial margin at the coin's max leverage. This calculator uses the formula published in the Hyperliquid docs.

Does leverage change my liquidation price in cross margin?

No. In cross margin the margin available is your whole account value, so the liquidation price depends on account value and position size, not the leverage setting. In isolated margin, higher leverage means less margin and a closer liquidation price.

Why is my real liquidation price different?

Fees, funding payments, other open positions in cross margin and margin tiers on very large positions all move it. Hyperliquid also uses the mark price, not the last trade, to trigger liquidations.
